Chronological age does not prescribe one anti-aging treatment. Two people over 50 can have very different priorities, from dryness and uneven tone to changes in facial contour, expression lines, or muscle support. Health history, skin tolerance, prior procedures, and personal goals matter more than a decade label. The most useful approach is to identify the tissue and appearance concern, then choose a cosmetic tool whose verified mechanism matches it.

What changes after 50, without treating age as a diagnosis
Visible facial change reflects several processes occurring together. Why low settings and higher EMS settings must be separated
Conventional microcurrent operates at 1 to 8 Hz and within the microampere range. Category-level evidence supports cautious discussion of ATP-related signaling, fibroblast and collagen signaling, and microcirculation support at low amplitudes. It does not establish a specific result for a named consumer product or prove that microcurrent builds facial muscle. For evidence scope, Lee et al. review microcurrent mechanisms (PMID 38645592), while Cheng et al. measured current-dependent ATP, protein-synthesis, and membrane-transport effects in rat skin (PMID 7140077). Neither source tested PureLift, a named home facial device, or a cosmetic outcome from levels 1 and 2.
PureLift begins in low-amplitude, skin-support territory. Levels 1 and 2 do not add muscle activation, and their exact output figures remain engineering estimates pending final bench measurement. They should not be advertised as measured nanoampere or microampere specifications. Higher settings move into motor-level EMS. Pro Plus and Glow reach up to 9 mA and are designed for visible contraction when used at an appropriate level and placement.
This range is relevant to someone over 50 only if muscle activation is one of that person's actual goals. Age itself is not proof that stronger output is necessary. A user should choose a manageable setting within the instructions and should not equate discomfort with effectiveness.
The PDM™ architecture across the line

Choosing a model by features, not birth year
All five models are FDA-cleared 510(k) Class II, made in Japan in ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 facilities, use PDM™, and follow a 10-minute session format. PureLift Pro costs $699 and is the established mid-range model. PureLift Pro Edition costs $799 and is 10 percent stronger than Face and Pro. PureLift Pro Plus costs $899 and reaches up to 9 mA.
PureLift Face costs $499 and provides the shared PDM™ engine at lower output. It is not automatically the choice for a younger user, just as the highest-output model is not automatically required after 50. PureLift Pro retains the established mid-range position, while Pro Edition provides a defined 10 percent output step.
Pro Plus adds the patented diamond-faceted probe and Active plus Infuse modes. Active is the EMS-focused mode. Infuse supplies needle-free infusion support and supports enhanced topical application. Its supported role does not establish a measured depth of topical delivery. PureLift Glow costs $999, reaches the same 9 mA maximum, and includes the same probe and modes.
Glow alone adds PDM++, a bipolar-pulse evolution layered on PDM™, plus red 634 nm and blue 465 nm LED. PDM++ does not have direct evidence of superior comfort, depth, spread, recruitment, or results. The LED feature is a separate optical modality with its own instructions. It should never be used over the eyes or eyelids.
Building a realistic home routine
